Topic: Daiwa "Superba" - the innovative next generation of Krill Oil.
Guest: Nils Hoem: Chief scientist at AKER Bio Marine.
In this engaging episode, Basha delves into the fascinating and ever-evolving trends within the natural products industry, all aimed at empowering the community to enhance their overall quality of life. Along with her husband, she diligently monitors their Omega-3 index, a crucial component in their health journey. They prioritize incorporating Omega-3 into their diets, primarily through fish and other nutrient-rich sources, to support their liver function and promote overall wellness.
Basha is joined by the esteemed Dr. Nils Hoem, Ph.D., the Chief Scientist at Aker BioMarine, who brings a wealth of knowledge about the often-misunderstood Omega-3 found in krill oil. Together, they will explore essential aspects of krill oil, including how to select a high-quality product, its remarkable health benefits, and the key distinctions between fish oil and krill oil. This informative discussion promises to illuminate the valuable role Omega-3 plays in our health and help listeners make informed choices for their well-being.
Krill oil provides a natural source of essential omega-3 fatty acids in the form of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) as well as phospholipids, choline and astaxanthin. EPA, DHA and choline in krill oil are attached to phospholipids which enhance transport of these substances in tissues where they exert their effect. Omega-3 fatty acids in krill oil are therefore much more easily absorbed in the different organs compared to fatty acids in fish oil which are attached to triglycerides instead of phospholipids. Krill oil also has astaxanthin, a highly powerful antioxidant that is not found in fish oil. Omega-3 fatty acids and choline have been linked to improvement in cardiovascular, cognitive, skin and joint health. Krill oil is obtained from sustainable fishing methods in waters with very little pollutants. An innovative extraction process is used to preserve the pristine lipids in the oil.
